OAKE Manor Seniors held their Invitation Day on Thursday, where a member invites a Senior from another golf club and they play a Pairs Better Ball Competition.

Sixty-four golfers took part and the winners were John Byrne and his guest John Littlewood, from Minehead Golf Club, who scored 46 points.

Jon Beer and Glyn Ottery were second with 45 and club captain Harvey Piper and guest Bob Jones from Isle of Wedmore were third with 43.

Neil Longstreet won the Sunday Stableford on November 5, scoring 38. Ricky Selway was second with 36 and Jon Ball was third also 36.

Chris Falltrick won the Wednesday Midweek Stableford with 37, Simon Greaves second with 35 and Kevin Lee third, also on 35.

TAUNTON & Pickeridge Golf Club held its annual Remembrance Day Four Ball Better Ball Stableford competition on Sunday, which included a time of silence observed on the course at 11am.

Despite the windy conditions, scoring was good, the winning pair of Neil Aries and Martin Evans notching up 45 points beating the runners-up, Brian Trickey and Neil Shattock, on countback.

Third place went to Paul Timbury and Danny Sams on 44 points.

On Tuesday, the T&P Ladies Section played a Stableford at the end of which it was Mary Guy who won the silver division with 37 points three ahead of second-placed Gill Shire.

The bronze division was won by Berni Hatcher with 39 points, second place went to Katy Davies with 32, Anna Rees was third with 32 and Judy Powell fourth with 30.

The only two of the day was recorded by Mary-Jo Shepherd, while the nine-hole Stableford was won by Jan West.

Taunton & Pickeridge member Tom Sloman was recently announced as the Somerset Golf Union Player of the Year.

The award was deserved recognition of his achievements in various individual golf tournaments and also for his contribution as part of the Somerset team which achieved outstanding results in inter-county matches at regional and national level.
