SOMERSET will open their 2018 Specsavers County Championship campaign against newly-promoted Worcestershire at the Cooper Associates County Ground, Taunton.

After next year's T20 Blast fixtures were revealed yesterday, today saw the club's County Championship schedule announced, as well as their Royal London One-Day Cup fixtures.

In fact, Somerset's first two matches are both in Taunton, with the Worcestershire fixture starting on Friday, April 20 being followed by a home match against Yorkshire on Friday, April 27.

After a trip to Lancashire, two more home matches follow - against Hampshire and Nottinghamshire, the other side promoted from Division 2 this year - before a run of no County Championship games at the County Ground from June 13 to August 19.

Their last match in the four-day competition is set to be away to Nottinghamshire, from Monday, September 20.

As for the One-Day Cup, Somerset start out away to Surrey, on Friday, May 18, before hosting Glamorgan on Sunday, May 20.

The final of that competition will take place at Lord's on Saturday, June 30.
