TAUNTON Town's Evo-Stik Southern League match with Wimborne Town, scheduled to take place at the Viridor Stadium tonight, has been called off following a pitch inspection this morning.
The game was already in doubt, and overnight frost has ensured that the pitch is not in a playable condition, as club chairman Kevin Sturmey confirmed to the County Gazette today.
It means that their next game is set to be on Saturday, also at home, against 15th-placed Cinderford (ko 3pm).
Key striker Dan Sullivan is set to return to action after missing last weekend's FA Trophy defeat to Bognor Regis Town, though midfielder Ollie Chamberlain will be serving a suspension after being sent off in that match.
The Peacocks - currently top of the league by 12 points over second-placed AFC Totton - are away from home on Boxing Day (Tuesday, December 26, ko 1pm), as they travel to Paulton Rovers, who are 18th in the standings.
