SOMERSET County Cricket Club youngster Fin Trenouth was very much to the fore as England Under-19s beat their Ireland counterparts by 125 runs in the first of their two warm-up games ahead of the World Cup.

Batting first, England posted 372-8 from their 50 overs, which included a third-wicket partnership of 179 between Henry Brook and Will Jacks, who both hit centuries.

Batting at number six, Trenouth blasted his way to 73 off just 41 balls, hitting five 4s and five 6s, before he was dismissed off the penultimate ball of the innings.

Somerset’s Tom Banton opened the innings but was out to the fifth ball without scoring.

In reply, Ireland were all out for 247 off 49.4 overs.

Played as a 15 players a side contest, Somerset’s third representative Tom Lammonby neither batted nor bowled.

England play their second warm-up game against Sri Lanka tomorrow night (Wednesday), before their Under-19s World Cup campaign gets underway in earnest when they play Namibia on Sunday.
