TAUNTON Town are a team on a mission tomorrow, eager to gain revenge for the 4-1 loss they suffered at home to Yate Town back in September.

That remains their only league defeat of the season, as the Peacocks stretched their unbeaten run to 18 games on Tuesday night.

They had to do it the hard way, though, as two Keith Emmerson goals secured a point after they’d been 2-0 down.

That point took them nine clear of Salisbury, mind you, as the second-placed Whites lost 3-1 at Didcot Town.

Peacocks captain Matt Wright said: “We’ve shown that attitude all season... against Shortwood we were 3-0 down [on 83 minutes] and drew 3-3.

“The character in the squad is unbelievable – we never know when we’re beaten.”

Wright is a doubt for Saturday’s game away to Yate (ko 3pm), due to a groin injury picked up on Tuesday.

He added: “Yate are the only team to beat us in the league this season, so that’s our team talk sorted.

“We have to put that right and not let them do the double over us.”

IN the Toolstation Western League, Wellington AFC hope to play for the first time since January 13 with a fixture at home to Chipping Sodbury Town tomorrow (ko 3pm).

Wellington sit 17th in the Toolstation Western League Premier Division, with Sodbury 11th.

Bishops Lydeard enjoyed a 5-2 win at Portishead Town last weekend, and they are on the road again tomorrow, as they take on Corsham Town (ko 3pm).

Lydeard Reserves, meanwhile, host Frome Collegians in the Somerset Junior Cup semi-final on Saturday (ko 1.45pm).

Lydeard’s opponents are currently top of the Mid Somerset League, but the hosts are in good form themselves and beat Bridgwater Sports 6-2 in Division 1 of the Taunton Saturday League last weekend.

The other last four encounter sees Middlezoy Rovers Reserves play Templecombe Rovers.
