LEIGH Robinson was a satisfied man after seeing his Taunton Town side draw 2-2 away to their closest challengers Salisbury on Saturday.

It maintains the eight-point gap between the table-topping Peacocks and Salisbury in second.

Asked whether he woud have taken a point before kick-off, the Taunton manager said: "Yeah, absolutely. In the circumstances of not having played for three weeks and obviously not wanting to lose any ground between the two teams, we'd happily have taken a point away from home in a tough fixture.

"It's a pretty content dressing room."

Things started badly for the visitors, as Stuart Green put the home side ahead inside two minutes, but the Peacocks fought back and scored from two Ryan Brett set-pieces, as Shane White and then Matt Wright headed home.

Robinson added: "Again it was a demonstration of the character that we've got, as we haven't kicked a ball for 21 days, and in arguably our biggest game of the season we've gone 1-0 down early on.

"But then we're 2-1 up at half time which shows the fighting spirit that we've got, and that's really pleasing.

"We probably weren't at our fluent best today, and I don't think either team created many chances, but we had some good deliveries into the box.

"We did speak about having that bit of extra conviction in the box, which I felt we didn't quite have against Bideford and North Leigh, and that's what they provided today, which is a good sign."

Robinson also had a few words for new signing Nuno Felix, who joined from Paulton Rovers and started at left wing-back.

"He's our most natural player in that position, so although it's a bit unusual for a player to come straight in, we signed him for that position and you saw today that he gave us that bit of extra balance on the left.

"He's a real talent in terms of going forward, he's got a trick or two, and he can create things, so we're really pleased with how he did today."
