TAUNTON host the Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust Easter Race meeting on Monday (March 26), when the first of six races on the card, carrying a prize pot worth over £61,000, is due off at 2.20pm, writes Richard Walsh.

A special attraction will be the appearance of locally-owned and trained Native River, which won the Gold Cup on Friday, and Midlands National winner Regal Flow.

In addition to the racing action, there will be attractions for all of the family.

First to post is the Clarke Wilmott Taunton Maiden Hurdle Race, which is followed at 2.40pm by the Chetwood Wealth Management Handicap Hurdle.

The UK Gun Repairs Novices’ Handicap Steeple Chase has prizemoney worth £11,800 on offer. 

The Jackson Stops Taunton Handicap Hurdle follows at 3.40pm.

The most valuable event on the card is The Firehouse Somerset Handicap Steeple Chase (Class 3) over three miles four and a half furlongs, which offers a whopping £15,800 in prizes.

The afternoon concludes with The PKF Francis Clarke LLP Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle Race at 4.40pm. 

Accompanied children up to the age of 18 gain free admission at Taunton Racecourse.
