This is always a very popular event, especially with groups of work colleagues looking to unwind after a day at work.

The racing gets underway at 5.15pm and there will be lots to sample including a Hog Roast along with local ciders and ales.

First to post is The Invest Southwest Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle Race over two miles and half a furlong, which is followed half an hour later by The Half Year Membership Available Today Novices’ Hurdle Race over two miles three.

The most valuable race on the card is The Simple Minds In Concert September 2nd Novices’ Handicap Steeple Chase over two miles and two furlongs at 6.15pm, which has total prize money of more than £10k on offer.

The Racing UK Handicap Hurdle Race over two miles and half a furlong is due off half an hour later followed by The Arabian Horse Racing 13th May Mares’ Handicap Hurdle Race over three miles, which is the longest of the day.

The St Michaels Church Orchard Portman Handicap Steeple Chase over two miles five and a half furlongs follows, before the curtain comes down on the season with The Taunton Racecourse Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race at 8.10pm.

Punters are reminded that those who purchase their tickets for the Evening Racing in advance online before 10am on the day prior to racing can take advantage of the generous discounts that are on offer.

Racing returns to Taunton when the 2018/19 season gets underway on Wednesday, October 31.
