Somerset Premier Division
Keinton Kestrels 35, Tone 45

TONE played two fixtures this week in the Premier Division – the first against Keinton’s Kestrels.

Tone knew this would be a well-contested game and remained calm to secure the win.

Jade Barnett and Helen Lucas stepped in nicely at GS with lovely space and well-timed drives, linking well with GA Leila Aladin.

The second match was up against Galmington’s Claremont.

In this well-fought battle, Tone finished the first quarter two goals ahead but they then pulled away.

GS Lauren Wilkinson made an awesome debut for Tone and linked well with GA Leila Aladin.

The defensive trio of Kim Tom, Nic Smith and Lucy Jones dominated against Claremont’s attack.

It was a great win for Tone, who played well as a team, supporting each other and staying positive.

Somerset Division 1

QUANTOCK struggled with their passing early on and Bruton’s defence made interceptions to lead 8-6.

And it was still tight at the break, Quantock battling back to 15-14 up.

But Robins turned it round again (24-22), and held on to win by two.

Somerset Division 2
Priory 38, Queensway 36

GALMINGTON’S Queensway began well but Priory kept their heads and settled into their stride, with accurate shooting from Zoe Coggins (GS) and Tasha Levy giving them the early lead.

Priory were two up at half time but Queensway hit back to take a five-goal lead in the third quarter.

Priory kept their cool, chasing every loose ball and keeping the pressure on, to not only claw back level but go ahead by one.

Priory retained their lead until the final whistle to triumph.

Somerset Division 2
Priory 38, Queensway 36

GALMINGTON side Queensway hit the court against friends and rivals Priory, from Taunton Netball Club, this week.

A close-run encounter from start to finish saw Queensway work very hard, with some great passages of play throughout.

A superb line up of support (thanks go to all club members who came to help and encourage) helped Queensway to pull it back and keep the score close at half time.

Strong centre play by player of the match Lily helped the ball travel through the court, and Queensway were able to take full advantage of several well-won turnovers, moving ahead by five goals in the third quarter.

Despite a magnificent effort from both the defence and attack, Queensway just couldn’t hold the lead, with Priory just pipping them to the post in the dying minutes of the match.

The result was frustrating for players and supporters alike, with the score reflecting just how close the game was.
