IT has been a fantastic week for Bathpool as the Keyline Taunton Sunday League came to its climax, writes Dave Whelan.

The defending champions not only retained their title, but also added the Gardener Cup to their trophy cabinet.

Last Wednesday they took on a depleted Hamilton in the final Division 1 match of the season, needing a win to climb above Castlemoat.

It was obvious from the start that there was going to be no other result.

Tom Wadham scored five in the 6-0 win, to finish as the division’s top scorer, and the title was Bathpool’s.

On Sunday Bathpool and Hamilton met again, in the Gardener Cup final.

There was little between them in the first half, but Dan Scadden put Bathpool ahead.

Hamilton turned it around after the break, as an Adam Cook own goal and James Osbourne’s strike made it 2-1.

Bathpool were stunned but far from finished, and levelled with a super strike from Andy Butler.

The winner came in extra time, as Bathpool were awarded a penalty, and Stuart Kennard stepped up to secure the double.
