RUNNING Forever members again ventured to the four corners of the country in search of glory at the weekend.

Dan Carrington had a great run at the Wales Trail Half at Coed y Brenin, a hilly challenge he completed in 2:07.

Three members went to Exeter for the Age Concern-organised 10k.
Simon Rowland finished in 54:10, Pete Stretton in 59:21 and Pat Pike in 76 minutes.

Another trio went to Martock for their 10k.

James Nicholas, Chris Higgins and Robert Williams finished this flat and scenic course in 41:53, 56:10 and 59:28, respectively.

A couple of members took things to the extreme with a trip to distinctly hilly Cumbria, for the Lakesman full distance triathlon.

That comprised a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile cycle, then a full marathon as a day’s entertainment.

Lee Macklin completed it in 14:06 hours, with Sue Lewis crossing the line in her first attempt at this distance in 14:55 hours – a fine achievement.

This weekend’s Parkrun tourists went to Thornbury, Mount Edgcumbe, Stratford-upon-Avon, Fareham, Melksham and Burnham, where Hannah Taunton was first lady home at their third anniversary run.

Thirty-four members kept things local at Longrun Meadow, with new PBs for Simon Denson, Philip Parsons and Charlie Smith.

TAUNTON Athletics Club members have once again been out and about, all over the country.

Steve Willis took third place overall at the Heron Half in Yeovilton, in a time of 1:20:23.

This was his second fastest half marathon to date, and he placed first in the MV40 category.

The Yeovilton 5k is a very flat and sociable race, and TAC’s Phil Burden held off strong competition to win in 15:00.

Alice Murray-Gourlay came in as first lady in 17:58 – her first sub-18 time – with Katie Drew finishing in 18:25, Nick Daniels 18:43, Morgan Curry 20:46, Robin Green 21:03, Mark Bysouth 21:33, Suzi Griffiths 25:08, Ursula Green 26:56 and Sharron Kington 26:56 (a post-op PB).

Mark Bysouth and Alan Bolon, meanwhile, posted times of 50:04 and 1:08:31, respectively, at the Piddle Wood Plod 10k.

At the Braunton track meet, Nick Daniels did the Dream Mile in 05:16, and the 400 in 65:11.

The Westgates were off on their travels for the Jersey Half, with Lesley placing first in the V60 category in a time of 1:50:26, while Richard posted 2:05.

Keith Paul and Sharron Kington also headed to Clumber Park, for a race series in Newark.

Four 5ks, one Sherwood Pines Parkrun and one Clumber Park 10k later, the pair were pretty exhausted, but Paul did win the MV50 category in the last of those events.

CHRIS Perring led the Hydro Harriers home at Longrun Meadow Parkrun last Saturday.

He came home in a highly impressive 18:45 PB.

Andy White (19:46) pipped Chris Jones by six seconds, with Rowland Lyons home in 24:13 and Charlotte Norman 30:10.

Andrew Phelps recorded 28:43 at Burnham (187th from 400 runners).
