CRAIG Overton has been included in the Somerset squad aiming to complete a quickfire derby double over Gloucestershire tomorrow night (Friday).

The seamer has not featured in either of Somerset's opening two matches having picked up a side strain on England ODI duty in June but is part of a 14-man squad making the trip to Bristol.

Looking ahead to the match, Somerset head coach Jason Kerr told the County Gazette: "Craig returned to bowling yesterday [Wednesday] and we will see how he is on the day.

"We didn’t turn up on Sunday [an eight-wicket defeat at home to Kent] - it was a lacklustre performance but I don’t think we need to make drastic changes.

“There are things we need to improve on but we travel to Bristol full of confidence.

"The atmosphere here last week was phenomenal and I'm sure it will be the same up there. It can be quite hostile but it's a great challenge for the players to perform in that environment.

"They will be hurting after last week and desperate to put things right. They have won twice since we beat them and I think every team will improve as the tournament goes on."

Somerset have not exercised their option to recall Tom Banton, who scored 137 as he led the England Under-19s to victory over South Africa in the first unofficial 'Test' and has today been named as captain for the upcoming one-day series between the sides.

“The agreement with the ECB is that we can recall players if they are certain to play,” Kerr said.

“I think it would be a tough call to drop people after two games but it's fantastic to see Tom doing so well.”

Somerset remain without Tim Groenewald (groin) for the match, which begins at 6.30pm.
