IT was another busy weekend for Running Forever’s athletes.

On Saturday, Rob Murr, Bev Collins, Lynn Cunningham, Lee Macklin, Sandra Williams, Ali Bissatt and Dan Talbot took part in an ultra-marathon, totalling 31 miles.

The race started at Ham Hill outside Yeovil, and they ran to Lyme Regis – a superb achievement by all of them in that heat.

On Sunday, there were three different races, with Alison Wasey, Duncan Gordon, Kirsti Nelson, Jamie Hill and Morwenna Dunstan taking part in the Bath Two Tunnels 5k and 10k races.

Goff Welchman, Cathie Welchman, Lara Bolduc, Rachel Nicholls and Ian Bawler, meanwhile, did a 14-mile race on Lundy Island, with spectacular scenery all around.

Finally, Simon Rowland took part in the 25th Grand Western Canal 10k, and made it back home under the hour mark.

THE All Blacks ladies of Taunton Running Club prepared themselves well for the 50K Ultra Ham Hill to Lyme Regis race last weekend.

Nonetheless, through all the miles and months of training, they did not expect to run the race on one of the hottest days of the year.

BIG EFFORT: Taunton Running Club Ladies at the Ham Hill to Lyme Regis Ultra race

To think about running 30-odd miles requires rare determination and tenacity, and yet through the blood, sweat, tears, tantrums and getting lost, they all completed the course.

They enjoyed an ice lolly, a dip in the sea and a fine medal to celebrate their achievement.
