BRIDGWATER Town co-manager Dave Pearse is looking for his side to bounce back from their FA Cup defeat to Cheddar last weekend, as they take on Cadbury Heath tomorrow (ko 3pm).

The Robins twice fought back from behind behind against their Western League First Division hosts, only to lose out to a free header from a set-piece.

Pearse told the Mercury: “It’s so frustrating - we looked like a completely different team to the one that played so well on Tuesday [a 2-0 win over Buckland Athletic four days before].

“We gave away an outrageous amount of silly free-kicks and were eventually punished.

“Credit to Cheddar, they worked really hard and pressed us well. You could see at the end how much it meant to them.”

To make matters worse for Town, defender Josh White picked up an injury and new signing Jake Brown, an attacker who arrived last week from Melksham, was sent off late on for a second bookable offence.

That made him the second new boy to see red in as many matches so far, following Ian Bellinger’s sending off 15 seconds into his debut last Tuesday.

“There have been a couple of strange decisions but I’m not one to moan too much about that - we have to look at ourselves,” Pearse said.

“Hopefully, Saturday is the catalyst for us to go on a good run in the league.

“We have to put it behind us quickly and get some points on the board.”

The visitors to Fairfax Park tomorrow, Cadbury Heath, have drawn both of their league matches played so far - 1-1 with Brislington and 2-2 against Roman Glass St George - before winning 2-1 at Brislington in the FA Cup.

Bridgwater's postponed match at Hengrove Athletic will now be played on Wednesday, September 12.
