SHAUN Anthony scored a last-gasp winner on his debut, to give Taunton Town a 1-0 victory at home to Hillingdon Borough in Division One (S&W) of the British Gas Business League last Saturday.

Anthony, signed from Wellington last week, came on as a half-time substitute and scored direct from a free-kick two minutes into injury time.

The striker had a previous spell with Taunton under their last manager Peter Beadle.

The visitors can probably count themselves unlucky not to have taken anything from the game after enjoying the better of the second half.

Taunton could have taken the lead just 20 seconds into the match but Tom Collett's effort hit the crossbar.

Hillingdon failed to make their pressure count after the break and looked to have survived a let-off when Matt Beadle - another substitute - hit the bar for Taunton in the 87th minute.

But the killer blow came five minutes later when Anthony beat visiting keeper Ben Harris with a free kick.

TAUNTON Town are away to Marlow in a league game this Saturday.

BRIDGWATER Town have given Taunton seven days' notice of approach for left-sided defender or midfielder Charlie Welch.
