British Gas Business League Division 1 (S&W): Taunton Town 1, Hillingdon Borough 0.

HALF-time substitute Shaun Anthony fired home a last-gasp free-kick on his debut to give Taunton Town victory at home to Hillingdon Borough at Wordsworth Drive last Saturday.

It gave the striker, signed from Wellington last week, a dream start to his second stint with the club after a spell under previous boss Peter Beadle.

Town manager Gary Domone was overjoyed for Anthony and the team, who have had a lean time in the league of late and were desperate for three points.

He said: "I was so pleased for the lads because they deserved this.

"We played well in our last two games but didn't get anything so this was a big confidence booster.

"And to keep a clean sheet was a brilliant achievement as we haven't done so for a while. Hillingdon are a good side - they're strong and quick up front - and our back four did an outstanding job against them.

"But for Shaun to come in and get the winning goal was a fairytale.

"He was desperate to come and play for his hometown club and to score the winner on his debut was great."

Taunton were a whisker from taking the lead after just 20 seconds when Tom Collett's wonderful strike cannoned against the cross bar.

Taunton just about shaded the rest of the first half without creating many clear-cut chances whereas Hillingdon enjoyed more possession after the break.

Despite that, they were kept in check by the Taunton defence and keeper Liam Bull comfortably dealt with anything thrown at him.

The closest the visitors came was when Leon Nelson headed wide.

Domone brought Matt Beadle on with half an hour to go and the former manager's son almost hit the winner with three minutes left but his stunning volley came back off the crossbar.

But the Peacocks team were not to be denied and Anthony popped up two minutes into injury time to curl a free kick around the wall and past Ben Harris.
