British Gas Business League Division 1 (S&W): Thatcham Town 1, Taunton Town 1.

TAUNTON Town's players were left disappointed after failing to make it three wins in succession.

Substitute Ryan Havard's goal five minutes from time earned them a point at Thatcham, who are above them on goal difference, but Town's boss Ian Jones said they were not satisfied.

He said: "In this league it's often good to go away and get a point but the lads came off after the game very disappointed they didn't win.

"We spoke about ending the season strongly and, after wins against Bracknell and Marlow, they wanted to make it three.

"It's very encouraging for me that they are not content with a point, even from a game that has nothing resting on it, and I also felt we did enough to win it."

Taunton were not at their best in the first half but could have gone ahead when top scorer Tom Collett was put through, but the ball would not come down for him to get a strong enough shot in.

The hosts the lead after half an hour when visitors' defender Dave Anthony was penalised for handball in the area and Sam Rea scored from the spot.

Taunton were by far the better side after the break. Matt Rawlins and Matt Beadle both spurned opportunities after being put through, while Shaun Anthony had an effort saved.

Ten minutes from time Collett was sent racing clear again, he tried to lift it over the onrushing keeper Paul Strudley who handled outside his area and was shown a red card.

Five minutes later Taunton were level, as Havard, who had been on the pitch just ten minutes on his return from suspension, latched on to yet another through ball and fired home from 20 yards.

Then, with virtually the last kick of the game, Taunton almost nicked all three points but Alex Faux's shot form the edge of the area was just wide.
