Truro among seven new opponents for Taunton

TAUNTON Town will face seven new opponents in Division One (S&W) of the British Gas Business League next season.

Among them are Truro City who have reached the Southern League after three successive promotions - from the South-Western League and the Toolstation League's Division One and Premier.

Truro are backed by businessman Kevin Heaney, who has said he wants to make them Cornwall's first Football League club.

Three other sides have also been promoted to Division One (S&W).

Beaconsfield and SYCOB (Slough Youth Centre Old Boys) - relegated in 2006-7 - have returned after a season in the Spartan South Midland League.

Southampton-based AFC Totten, runners-up to Truro in the 2006-7 FA Vase, have come up after winning the Sydenham Wessex League Premier Division.

North Leigh are the fourth side promoted, after pipping Almondsbury to the Hellenic League title on the final day of the season.

Moving in the other direction are Cirencester Town who lost their Premier Division place after finishing second from bottom.

Bishops Cleeve and Cinderford Town have both moved across from the BGB League Midland Division.

Meanwhile, Slough Town, who were initially relegated after finishing second from bottom, are set to earn a reprieve as a result of Halifax Town's expected expulsion from the Blue Square Premier.

Promoted out of the division are champions Farnborough Town and play-off winners Oxford City, while Newport Isle of Wight, who finished bottom, have joined the Wessex League.
