DANNY Lane's strike was enough to give lowly Taunton Town a crucial 1-0 victory at home to Uxbridge in Division (S&W) of the BGB League last night (Wednesday).
The win - only their fourth of the season in the league - has moved the Peacocks out of the relegation zone to fourth from bottom.
The victory was all the more impressive as Uxbridge defeated title-chasing Truro City 5-2 last weekend to end the Cornish side's unbeaten away record.
Taunton were the better side in the first half and went in front after 24 minutes when Lane took advantage of a poor defensive header to beat Uxbridge keeper Paul McCarthy.
The mid-table visitors piled on the pressure after the break but Ian Jones' side held firm to claim victory.
