Cycling: Coles continues Northover success

TAUNTON’S Northover VT cycling team continued their winning ways as Simon Coles claimed victory in the Welsh Cycling Association 25-mile time trial on the Usk Monmouth course.

Coles also smashed his personal best with a time of 52min33sec for the 25 miles and is going to take some beating in local events.

On the same course, Jon Wynn and Tom Cox both road the Welsh National 25-mile time trial.

Unfortunately, Wynn suffered a puncture some tenmiles into his ride when he appeared on course for a top five placing, which would have been no mean feat in a top class field of 120 riders.

Cox, however, did finish, coming second to John French from Oxford in the over 55 category with a superb time of 56.36.

Cox and French were nearly two minutes clear of the next fastest rider in this category.
