SOMERSET will decide on the future of out-of-contract all-rounder Wes Durston in the next week.

The 29-year-old former Millfield School pupil looked set to leave but produced some excellent performances at the Champions League in India after being called in as a replacement for Marcus Trescothick.

Cheif executive Richard Gould has confirmed the club will decide whether to offer him a new contract when they meet next Wednesday.

He said: “No decision regarding Wes Durston will be made until November 18 when we have got a meeting where the situation will be finalised.”

Durston, whose first appearances have been sporadic since he made his debut for Somerset in 2002, played in just three matches last season.

Leg spinner Michael Munday has signed a new one-year deal with the club.

SOMERSET youngsters Jos Buttler and Calum Haggett have just returned from England U-19 duty in Bangladesh. They will be spending the next week at Loughborough looking to win a place in the squad for the U-19 World Cup in New Zealand, early in 2010.
