SOMERSET'S director of cricket Brian Rose has warned Somerset fans not to expect too much, too soon from his young guns.
The county have suffered a patchy start to the season including two innings defeats in the championship.
But Rose believes results will come good given time.
"At times we will see tremendous results from the team because they are exceptionally talented," he said.
"But as well as highs we will also see lows.
"We have played six games and won three where we have performed very well.
But we have also lost three games quite badly so there is no consistency at the moment and that is a problem that we have got to put right very quickly.
"However, over a period of time, I expect results to improve.
"We have a very young batting side and they are going to need time to gain the experience of handling different conditions away from the County Ground at Taunton.
"There are going to be some frustrations, but I have got an inherent faith in the ability of these players and I have no doubt they will come good."
One of Rose's new signings, Aussie off-spinner Dan Cullen, who took five wickets at Northants on his Somerset debut, has been picked for an Australian A tour in July so the county will lose him for five weeks.
Rather than seek a temporary overseas replacement, Rose said that Cullen's absence would give an opportunity to one of the players currently waiting in the wings.
