Wellington Football Club hold their annual meeting in the clubhouse tonight (Wednesday).

And outgoing chairman Ken Bird said today that members could go into the meeting in optimistic mood.

"It's been a difficult year for the first team but we're delighted our Toolstation League status has been confirmed for next season.

"Elsewhere, our four other adults sides all did really well and the youth set-up continues to thrive.

"Off the field, it has been particularly busy but, as usual, our small and dedicated band of volunteers have risen to the various challenges."

Mr Bird is stepping down after ten years as chairman but still hopes to play an active role in the running of the club after the AGM.

"It may be the end of an era for me but it's the start of a new one for Wellington AFC," he added.

Tonight's meeting starts at 8pm and all members are welcome to attend.
