BOWLS: Watchet too strong for Victoria
WATCHET A beat Victoria A on all rinks and by 21 shots to pick up all 12 points in Premier 1 of the Somerset County League on Saturday.
Scores: J Groves, I Trunks, R Rendell and A Rendell won 20-19; R Hooper, S Slade, P Tregidigo and S Hooper won 26-17; L Townsend, L Allen, C Bruford and N Williams won 31-20.
On Sunday Watchet Ladies travelled to the Isle of Wedmore for a fifth round tie in the Southey Trophy and seemed to relish the sunny conditions, winning on three of the four disiplines and by 12 shots.
Scores: singles: H McDermaid lost 8-21; pairs: J Groves and N Webber won 25-17; triples: G Martin, P Christopher and P Perkins won 20-11; fours: C Bendle, M Binding, V Webber and J Hooper won 23-15.
On Thursday Watchet Ladies took three triples to North Petherton, winning on all rinks and by 27 shots. Scores: B Lynam, M Binding and J Hooper won 22-12; R Warren, J Smith and N Wilkinson won 22-10; L Talling, V Hornblow and L Hayhoe won 17-12.
Taunton were the visitors to Watchet last Wednesday for a six triple friendly and went home with a win by 12 shots. Scores: S Bryant, N Wallace and D Lynam lost 12-18; R McKay, M Vincent and J Hooper lost 16-19; M Binding, A Knight and T Standing lost 10-20; G Perkins, G Horobin and J Burnett lost 15-20; D Talling, V Hornblow and L Townsend won 19-7; E Owen, J Smith and R Somerfield drew 19-19.
