Wellington return to Toolstation action next Tuesday when they visit Division One rivals Chard Town (7.45pm).

And manager Colin Merrick is convinced his side will enjoy a far better season than last year when 22 defeats in 36 matches left them in the relegation zone.

Wellington were saved from the club because of a re-organisation of regional leagues.

But Merrick believes will not find themselves in the same situation again.

He said: “We won’t be finishing in the bottom two, that’s for sure.

“I have had a very busy summer and the side should be a lot stronger this year.

“Last season we weren’t scoring goals but I’ve signed two strikers from Taunton, Luke Redrup and Leon Taswell, and they will both help.

“In fact we’ve signed a lot of players and with some of our younger lads coming through I’m sure we’ll be OK.”

Wellington have their final warm-up tomorrow night (Friday) when they play at Crediton (7.30pm).
