Taunton Town resume activity following a blank week when they entertain Swindon Supermarine in the Evo-Stik League at Wordsworth Drive tomorrow (3pm).

Supermarine are freshly relegated from the Premier Division of the Evo-Stik Southern league but have made a solid start to the campaign.

They lie in ninth place having lost only once in five league games.

Town will be aiming to get their season back on track after the disappointing result and performance in their last outing – the defeat to Gillingham Town in an FA Cup replay – which manager Leigh Robinson is keen to put right.

He said: “The only thing worse than losing the FA Cup tie to Gillingham was not having a game at the weekend to try and put it right.

“No football team in the world goes through a season without disappointing results somewhere along the line and after a good start, this is what we have experienced recently.

“Quite simply we have lost our incisiveness in the last few games and we have to get that back.”

The Taunton side for Saturday is likely to have a different complexion to the one that lost out to Gillingham, with some new signings expected Robinson added: “We now have two big games against Swindon Supermarine and Tiverton, and what I want to see most is a reaction.

“If we get that, I'm sure we will get the results. When things go wrong I always take action, and I can promise that there will be changes from Saturday onwards, both in terms of personnel and approach.”

One Town player who will be in the squad on Saturday but is rumoured to being tracked by more senior clubs is midfield maestro Rodney Marsh.

However, the current Supporters’ and Players’ Player of the Year remains settled at Wordsworth Drive.

He said: “Any interest from higher league clubs is very flattering but I am perfectly happy at Taunton and am enjoying my football under the new management team.

“This is my home town club and I would like to help them achieve success in the future. We had a good start and despite some inconsistent performances recently, I think the club is definitely moving in the right direction.”

Another player though, former captain Andy Butler, has been released. Taunton are also in Evo-Stik League action next Tuesday when they visit Tiverton Town (7.30pm).

The game sees a return to Ladysmead for Taunton’s assistant manager Martyn Rogers who was at the helm of the Devon club for 18 years up until 2010.
