WATCHET Town entertain St George Easton in Gordano today with manager Steve Perkins more than happy with his side’s progress.

That despite the Red and Blacks being held to a goal-less draw last weekend.

Watchet had a host of chances to win the game at home to Odd Down reserves but just couldn’t get the breakthrough.

Perkins said: “The result wasn’t a fair reflection of the game. The Odd Down keeper made four or five excellent saves and we hit the crossbar three times.

“The last two games have been notable for the good football we have been playing and the way we are more solid when we don’t have possession.

“I’m not disheartened by Saturday’s result. We are certainly moving along the right lines.”

The game was notable also for the debut of former Torquay and Bridgwater Town midfielder Simon Lyons. Perkins added: “Simon was head and shoulders above everyone.

“He ran the game from midfield and will do a really good job for us.”

The bad news for Watchet fans is that Tom Sparks, Eden Harding and Jack Page are all off to University with only Page likely to feature much during the season.
