TAUNTON Town have a busy couple of days coming up in the Evo-Stik League, beginning with the visit of Wimborne Town to the Viridor Stadium tomorrow (Thursday) at 3pm.

That is followed by a trip to Fleet Town on Saturday for another 3pm kick-off.

After being unbeaten in their last nine outings, Town will be targeting a maximum return of points from the two games against sides that are in the lower half of the table as they seek to consolidate their second place behind Merthyr Town who are pulling away at the top.

However the Peacocks face an injury crisis ahead of the two matches with five players rated as extremely doubtful plus long term absentee Rob Norrish facing a cartilage operation in mid-January.

Rodney Marsh, who has been out for three months, and November signing Lamar Powell, may still not be ready for selection.

Meanwhile while Aidan Chainey, stretchered off at Bashley with an ankle injury, is also unlikely to be fit although the damage is not as bad as first feared.

Also struggling are team captain Steve Kingdon who received a cut shin at Bashley and Ben Carter who jarred his knee in a tackle at Tiverton on Boxing Day.

Town have yet to face Wimborne this season but they will be mindful of the Dorset side’s record away from home which has seen them win six times, although their recent form is nothing special with one victory and four defeats in their last half a dozen matches.

Fleet were beaten 2-1 at the Viridor Stadium in August and despite sitting down in 18th spot they have only suffered one defeat in their last five games which was to Merthyr.

Last weekend were seconds away from taking the scalp of fourth placed Didcot Town.
