TAUNTON Town face one of their most pivotal games of the campaign to date when they travel to their nearest challengers Evesham United in the Evo-Stik League tomorrow (3pm). Tuesday evening’s resounding win at Cinderford consolidated second place for the Peacocks who now lead Evesham by five points with equal games played and another positive result at the weekend would be a big step towards securing at least runners-up spot.

However Town will have to be at their best to emerge victorious against the Worcestershire side who are currently enjoying a superb run of form. Since snatching a stoppage time equaliser to draw 1-1 at the Viridor Stadium in November, Evesham have only been beaten once in 19 league outings (by leaders Merthyr) which includes 15 wins.

Town boss Leigh Robinson said: “If the title looks out of our reach, we are keen to finish second and as high as possible so Saturday gives us the chance to put further daylight between ourselves and third place.”

Rob Norrish returns to the squad for the first time since October following his recent cartilage operation and Rodney Marsh is also back after missing the trip to Cinderford through work commitments.

There are still seats available on the coach for supporters who wish to attend Saturday’s game. Departure time is 11.15am from the ground and cost is £10 per person. To book a place email admin@tauntontown.com or ring the office on (01823) 254909.
