KARL Lindsay was named Clubman of the Year at Taunton Town’s Presentation, which was held at the club on Saturday evening (May 28).

Karl fulfils a wide variety of roles at the Viridor Stadium including head coach of the Under 18 team, assistant first team coach, kit manager and head of football development and rarely a day goes by without him being at the ground doing one job or another so his accolade was richly deserved.

Other club awards saw the Supporter of the Year trophy officially presented to Peacocks fan Greg Galpin who only missed three first team games home and away last season whilst the Chairman’s Award was given to Finance Director Alan Slade who has devoted many hours on a voluntary basis in updating the club’s accounting system and manning the office.

On the first team front, the prestigious Ernie Price Memorial Cup was won by club captain Dale Evans.

The trophy was donated two years ago by Joyce Price in memory of her late husband Ernie who was a former Taunton player, manager and director, and grandfather to Jamie.

The cup is awarded to a player for attributes such as reliability, consistency, club spirit, willingness to go the extra mile or an extraordinary achievement. The Frank Summers Trophy for Supporters’ Player of the Year was won by Jamie Price, with Dale Evans in third place and Lloyd Irish runner-up - but the goalkeeper made up for it by winning the Norman Gregory Trophy for Players’ Player of the Year ahead of runner-up Price with Charlie Hitchings in third. Lloyd Irish and Jamie Price also collected an award for achieving 150 appearances for the club, with Irish being presented with a bottle of champagne for being an ever-present last season.

Top Goalscorer Jordan Rogers also secured the Goal of the Season accolade for his 40 yard wonder strike in the home game against Banbury United, with Craig Veal claiming second for his long range cracker in the same fixture and keeper Lloyd Irish in third for his unlikely winner at home to North Leigh. The Champagne Performer award given to the player who amassed the highest number of Man of the Match and Player of the Month prizes over the campaign was shared for the second successive season. Ben Carter and Craig Veal both totalled six wins, with six players sharing third spot with four wins apiece.

Captain Callum Mooney was named Player of the Year for the Under 18 team whilst Charlie Melvin-Sparks picked up the Players’ Player accolade as well as a new award, the Goal of the Season, which he won for his 50 yard effort at Tiverton. Kieran Ellis was presented with the Most Improved Player award.
