KING’S College Girls won the ISFA Under-18 Eleven-a-Side National Cup for the second time in three years when they beat Repton School at Meadow View Park, home of Thame United Football Club on Monday evening.

In bitterly cold conditions and in front of a small but vociferous crowd of supporters King’s took a while to get into their stride and conceded a goal within the first few minutes of the match.

The Repton girls, showed good organisation and plenty of aggression and did not allow King’s any time on the ball.

Later in the half, Repton were awarded a penalty for handball, but the spot kicked bounced off the post for a goal kick.

After this reprieve King's began to take charge, playing attractive passing football, but never really threatening the Repton goal and it remained 1-0 at the break.

After the interval King’s came out playing a more attacking, direct game and were rewarded when Sarah Hill scored soon after the restart, a long-range shot curling past the keeper into the top right hand corner.

From then on King's remained dominant and a second goal seemed inevitable. It came, again, from the boot of Hill, via a big Repton deflection.

As the minutes ticked away King's held their nerve and their shape. Just before the final whistle the Repton goalkeeper cleared the ball straight to Hill who spotted her chance and lofted a shot high over the keeper and into the open net to give King's victory 3-1.

Chris Heayns the Director of Football at King’s Schools said: “The girls have played well all season and thoroughly deserved to win the ISFA Cup. Repton provided stern opposition and after leading at half time made King’s fight all the way.

He added: “Every one of the King’s players played their heart out and contributed to what was an all round team performance. They can all feel very proud of what they have achieved.”
