THE women’s football team at Richard Huish College have qualified for the quarter-finals of the Association of Colleges National Cup for the first time in their history.

They took their quarter-final place in emphatic fashion, beating Hereford 6-1 away from home – Kitty Wells scored four, with Ellie Howe (her first ever for Huish) and Ellie Byrnes also netting.

They now wait to hear who they will face next, with the match set to take place on Wednesday, March 1.

The team consists of a mixture of first and second year students, all of whom train twice a week at the college, with many of the girls also playing for local football clubs such as Bishops Lydeard ladies.

Coach Julie Bowker said: “The girls deserve the opportunity to play in the quarter final after all of the hard work they have put in throughout their training sessions this year.”
