WSL1 Spring Series
Yeovil Town Ladies 2, Bristol City Ladies 3
YEOVIL Town Ladies were moments away from securing their first point of the 2017 Spring Series but fell victim to a late own goal in a 3-2 defeat to Bristol City Ladies at Taunton Town's Viridor Stadium.
The hosts came into the match on the back of consecutive defeats and made a nightmare start, falling behind after just five minutes when Claire Emslie scored from the penalty spot.
Having given away the penalty, Yeovil's Lucy Quinn made up for her error when she set up the equaliser for Annie Heatherson, who flicked the ball past the goalkeeper to put the home side back on terms just shy of the half hour mark.
New Glovers goalkeeper Megan Walsh, who had signed for the club earlier that day, made some good saves early in the second half as Bristol City pushed for a second, but it was Yeovil who took the lead when Sarah Wiltshire netted from 25 yards.
Just three minutes later City were level through Chloe Arthur, and the same player was then influential in the winning goal as her shot cannoned in off Yeovil defender Nicola Cousins with just a minute of normal time remaining.
The defeat means the Glovers stay rooted to the foot of the table ahead of Sunday's visit of Arsenal to the Viridor Stadium.
