WELLINGTON AFC are looking for a new first-team manager after it was announced that Jamie Ward is taking charge of Tiverton Town.

He will move to the Evo-Stick Southern League club after Wellington’s home game against Roman Glass St George tomorrow (Wednesday) and will be joined by his assistant Paul Short.

Club chairman Mike Hall said: “We are very disappointed to be losing Jamie and Paul as they have done an excellent job since taking over in September.

“They were brought in with the aim of taking us out of the relegation zone and have achieved this so we must thank them for their efforts.

“The committee hopes to have interim arrangements in place shortly and will make an announcement as soon as we can.”

Ward, a former player with Yeovil Town and Taunton Town, joined Wellington after the sacking of Colin Merrick, having successfully managed Taunton Town Under 18s.

He was joined by Short, previously assistant manager of Taunton Town’s first team.

At Tiverton Town, they will replace Mark Saunders and Hedley Steele, who stepped down last week.
