WELLINGTON were held to a 1-1 draw by Oldland Abbotonians in division one of the Toolstation league last night.

Oldlands, who sit second from bottom in the table, produced a style of football reminiscent of Wimbledon style in the 1980s in that the ball was rarely on the ground and long balls were the order of their day.

But they did take the lead when Jake Viney was penalised for bringing down an attacker.

Wellington had matched the visitors but were again struggling to find the net despite Alex Piper putting in another good shift up front and Oli Nott doing well from central midfield.

More long ball antics from Oldland were seen in the second half, but Wellington scored the equaliser through James Clough when he bundled home from a dead ball situation.

Wellington had chances to win it as a shot was ballooned over the bar and a goal from Piper was disallowed.
