TAUNTON Vale Hockey Club held their end-of-season awards evening last Friday, with singer, TV personality and Somerset resident Peter Andre as their special guest.

His wife Emily is a former member of the club, which is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year.

In total there were 177 in attendance, including Dragon’s Den star Deborah Meaden, and representatives from club partners King’s College and sponsors Greenslade Taylor Hunt and Albert Goodman.

Vale will be celebrating their anniversary at a special event on Saturday, August 18.

New members are welcome to join the club from August/September onwards - anyone aged six upwards to over 60 is welcome to come and play hockey.

TAUNTON Vale ladies 1sts completed their season last Sunday, with a 0-0 draw away to strugglers Yate in Premier Division 1.

The stalemate sees Vale finish seventh out of 12 teams, with 29 points – just two off sixth-placed Firebrands, and well clear of the division’s relegation zone.
