Somerset league leaders North Curry took the Terry Mockridge Memorial Shield for by edging our fellow divisional one Ashbrittle in a low scoring game at Staplegrove CC.

Phil Sharp’s 30 was the mainstay of North Curry’s 107 all out after they had won the toss and batted first a mix of seam and spin saw Ashbrittle bowl Curry out in the last over. Luke Williams bowled his leg spin well to take 5-24 in five overs.

Ashbrittle’s reply took up the whole of the twenty overs available to them, but they could not get the slow left armers of Matt Bulbeck and the off spin of Sam Powell away until late on when some lusty blows from Rob Williams and George Sinnott took their side to three figures with eight needed off the last over, but Curry were able to defend their total to win by four runs.

North Curry took the Terry Mockridge Memorial Shield and Ashbrittle the Ewens Family Shield.

Luke Williams was named man of the match for his effort with the ball and was awarded the Colin Vile Memorial Shield.
