TAUNTON Deane Cricket Club celebrated a successful 2013 season at their annual awards dinner.

Deane claimed three titles and their third team also finished in a creditable third place.

Their junior sides excelled with the under 15s winning the cup and finishing joint top of the league, losing out on run rate, while the under 13s 11-a-side team won the league and the cup.

Chairman Jason Squire said: “After a disappointing 2012 everyone at the club has pulled together and worked hard for this success, we look forward to the challenges ahead.”

Around 140 people attended the dinner with awards going to Rob Woodman (1st XI batting), Dan Milligan (1st XI bowling), Sam Loud (2nd XI batting), Dom Macfarlane (2nd XI bowling), Ben Coomber (Cavaliers batting), Jon House (Cavaliers bowling), Tom Burgess (Crusaders batting) and John Ponte (Crusaders bowling).

Captains’ awards went to Ali Warren, Jason Squire, Pat Thomas and Jack Burgess, while the Richard Coombes Young Player of the year award was given to Dom Macfarlane.

A new life member was Dave Sizer for services for youth cricket. Peter Warren won an outstanding contribution accolade and Steve Nelson picked up club person of the year.
