WATCHET suffered a 66-run defeat against Temple Cloud on Saturday in Division One.

Temple Cloud piled on the runs and posted a score of 258-3 in their 45 overs with A. Pyne claiming all three wickets. Watchet got off to a dreadful start in reply with the top four batsmen falling for a combined score of just three. But they rallied and closed on 192-9 with L. Woolgrove top scoring on an undefeated 60.

North Curry suffered a disappointing start to the season in Division Two when they suffered a 38- run defeat against Wincanton.

M. Mitchell hit an excellent 97 not out as Wincanton were dismissed for 237 with C. Golding taking 4-25 for North Curry and M. Joliffe 3-55.

Openers P. Sharp (53) and J. Midgley (45) gave North Curry a steady response in reply and despite a knock of 33 from number five S. Clift, they were restricted to 199-9 in their 45 overs.

Wellington 2nds will feel they let their Division Four match with Wembdon 2nds slip away from them as they had their opponents in all sorts of trouble at 16-3 in reply to their total of 174-4.

Skipper Richard Henwood carried his bat for a capital 79no with three sixes in it as he was well supported by others. Wellington closed on 174-4 in their 45 overs.
