TAUNTON and Pickeridge Ladies missed out on retaining the Rogers Cup – a county competition – by the narrowest of margins.

In the final that was played on a neutral course at Weston-super-Mare the T&P team lost out to Lansdown GC Ladies by four matches to three, so the cup will reside at a new home for a year.

Georgina Calvert with 37 points was the winner in the Silver Division of Tuesday’s Stableford competition, one ahead of her nearest rival Jane Lansdell who had 36.

In the Bronze Division it was Liz Stevens with 37 points who stole the honours. Vicky Davies was second on countback from Senga Westwater after both scored 35 while Theresa Dowsett was fourth with 33.

Twos were recorded during the round by Jean Kennedy and Anna Rees.

The top division of Saturday’s Stableford saw three players all return to the clubhouse with 38 points – two of whom were from the same family.

After countback it was 16- year-old junior captain Kobe Adams who was the winner just ahead of his uncle, Graham Adams, with Jason Brock third.

In Division Two it was Ian Thresher who was the winner with 38 points, four ahead of Andy Gottieb with 34, with Glenn Brooks third on 32.

The Midweek Stableford was won by Chris Duckworth with 38 points, three better than second placed Kieron Hector while Mel Trott was third on 34.
