WHIRLWINDS trampoline and DMT club were in the medals at the first league event of the season at the Welsh institute of sport in Cardiff.

The league is a new structure that is held by a committee representing the national clubs and it will be holding events in Scotland, Kent and Liverpool with the finals to be held in Cambridge in December.

Competing for Whirlwinds were Jacob Turner, Annabel Scanlan, Becky Jarrett, Christan Briffa, Ella Hooper- Bleeks, Natasha Hodnett, Sunny- Laverne Sharp and Zach King.

In the trampoline event Jacob Turner (15-16) and Annabel Scanlan (19+) performed excellent routines, both taking home gold medals for the club.

Christan Briffa (15-16) won silver while Sunny Laverne Sharp won bronze.

In the double mini trampoline event Jacob Turner earned his second gold medal of the day, with Sunny- Laverne Sharp also gaining first place.

Becky Jarrett earned a bronze, bringing the total haul to four gold, one silver and two bronze.

Head coach Jason Richardson said: “This was a national level competition and our performers did the club proud.”

The club moved its base to Wellsprings in Taunton this week and now has sessions available from pre-school age right through to adults at its venues at Wellsprings and Somerset College.

It has a healthy competitive squad that competes at regional and national level and boasts two regional champions in 2014 and a British champion from 2013.

Richardson added: “Great for building core strength, trampolining is a great way to get fit whatever your age.”

Classes run at Somerset College on Wednesdays 6-7pm, 7-8pm and 8-9pm and at Wellsprings on Friday 5-8 and Saturday 11-12.
