FOUR Hydro Harriers took part in race two of the nine-series Weston Prom five mile run.

In relatively mild conditions Chris Jones was first Hydro back, crossing the line in 33m 10s (68th from 339) .

Chris Perring finished next in 33m 29s (77th), followed by Mark Foss in 37m 2s (147th). James Wright completed the Hydro complement coming home in 41m 42s (237th).

Three Hydro Harriers were in Parkrun action last Saturday.

At Longrun Chris Jones came home in 11th position (from 288) in 20m 13s, whilst clubmate Andy White finished 21st breaking the 21 minute barrier by 10 seconds.

His son Sam won the event in 18m 10s.

Rowland Lyons, continuing his recovery from injury, competed at Valentines (Ilford) finishing in 173rd place (from 231) in 34m 30s.

Hydro Harrier Lucinda Bufton who completed the Chicago Marathon in 4h 33m 41s, a whole minute faster than her London Marathon in April.

FIRST lady home in the Longrun Meadow parkrun was Caroline Norris for the fifth time in 20m 23s. First timer Naomi Elliot came in second place in 23m 24s and Sarah Dunne was third in 23m 25s). First man home was Sam White of The Peacock Firm for the fifth time in 18:10. Iain Elliott of Running Forever RC came second in 18m 14s.

First timer Alexander Burton of St Mary Richmond AC came close behind in third place in 18m 24s. There were visitors from Huntingdon, Grantham, Long Eaton and York. Although 23 different athletic clubs were represented, the vast majority, 220, were unaffiliated runners.

Sarah Capstick, self- confessed parkrun addict, completed her 50th parkrun today. Sarah’s first (and slowest) time 27m 49s, was on October 5 and her most recent best, last week, was 23m 48s. Another three juniors completed their 10th parkrun. They were Sullivan Cooling (JM10) who also got a best of 30m 36s, Finlay Price (JM15-17) and Meredith Willis (JW11-14). Five-year-old Toby Calrow completed his first full parkrun having started by doing a single lap.

Core volunteer Linda Forsyth was running and kept Toby in her sights One of the race organisers, Val Perigo, said: “He really did look like he’d enjoyed himself when he’d finished so I’m sure he’ll be one of our regulars soon.”
