QUEEN'S College 1st XI team put up a fantastic fight this week to become regional champions at Clifton.

Queen’s were up against the top 15 teams in the West of England. In the group stages wins against the hosts Clifton College (2-1), Truro (6-0), Cheltenham Ladies College (7-2) and a 1-0 defeat by Marlborough put Queen’s through to the quarter finals.

Despite the long day the girls maintained their energy levels to secure a 3-1 victory against Exeter.

The semi-finals saw a game against past champions Dean Close.

Queen’s didn’t let the pressure get to them and maintained their control and composure.

Dean Close pressed hard as expected but Queen’s determination saw them to a 2-1 victory.

The final against arch rivals Millfield was an extremely even contest resulted in a 1-1 draw and penalty flicks. Some powerful flicks combined with fine goalkeeping from Tabia Weber sent the tie into sudden death which Queen’s eventually won 5-4.

Success for Queen’s earns them qualification for the national championship in February.
