n Hydro Harriers were also in Parkrun action, last Saturday. At a cold and frosty Longrun, Chris Jones finished 11th out of 176 in 20m 23s, while club-mate Andy White crossed the line in 21m 14s for 16th.

Rowland Lyons continued his return from injury by running at Valentines, Ilford, where he crossing the line in 88th (from 179) in a time of 29m 23s.

Twelve Hydro Harriers competed in the final of the annual Gate Race – a handicapped 5.3 mile multi-terrain course where each runner’s start time is decided using their average time taken to complete the route once a month over the year ... the plan being that most arrive at the finish line around the same time.

Some competitive tussles took place out on the course, which, despite the recent wet weather, offered some good conditions underfoot.

Accolades for first runners back went to Lucinda Bufton/Siobhan Elson (came in at the same time) and Tom Mellor was rewarded for getting back nearest to the expected finishing time.

Race times were: Tom Mellor (33m 24s), Chris Jones (35m 42s), Chris Hewson (36m 0s), Mark Foss (36m 27s), Andy Longthorpe (36m 43s), Chris Perring (37m 48s), Chris Philip (39m 27s), Mark Sawyer (39m 31s), Siobahn Elson / Lucinda Bufton (51m 39s), Rowland Lyons (56m 0s).
