NATIONAL Hunt trainer Bob Buckler has just brought his horses in to begin the final preparations for the coming season.

Since re-locating to his new yard high on the Quantock Hills between Bridgwater and Taunton in the spring of 2014, Buckler has chalked up 12 winners.

This season Buckler is launching a new venture, a club for west-country based people who only want to watch their horses racing at local courses.

Buckler’s Racing Club will feature two horses - Ballyegan a proven runner with a great track record who last season won £15,000 in prize money and a new horse Up to Al, a seven year old with an impressive point to point record.

“Ballyegan has proved himself as a great fun west-country horse. He loves his racing and loves his life here doing different things in between.

“He thrives on what he is doing with us and is incredibly versatile because he will go on most grounds and has won over two and three miles.

‘Up to Al’ moves beautifully and has got a very free action and flexibility, which I love in a horse. His dam won 9 races and was placed 22 times and is the dam of three winners so he has got a fairly decent background.

“He has won over two and a half miles at Hexham which is a tough track and he was very speedy when he took up the running.

With two horses in the club Buckler reckons those who become involved could certainly get 15 days racing a year when they will be able to enjoy tickets to the course and use of the Owners and Trainer facilities as well as going into the parade ring.

“Each of the 10 shares in the Racing Club will cost £3,500 which covers everything- the training, the entry fees, the farrier, the vets, and at the end of the season the prize money will come back to them less the jockey’s fees, which is all dealt with by Weatherbys.

“Leasing the horses means that people can enjoy being a trainer for a season without the pressure of outlaying a large amount of capital and then paying the training fees and everything else on top."
