JILL Loader and Mike How won the Roffey Cup at Oake Manor on October 11, with junior vice-captains, Alison Spackman and John Rose taking second place.

Richard Clist and Claire Tough finished third.

This Trophy was donated by the Roffeys, who were founder members of Oake and Mr Roffey’s business supplied much of the hard core materials for the club when it was being designed and created.

Nearest the pin in two on the 18th were Jane Clist and John Byrne, whilst nearest the pins on the 16th and the sixth were Kathryn Loader and Andy Parsons respectively.

The ladies held a Medford Competition on October 13 and the first division winners were: first, Bev King, second Pam Akers and third, Jenny Musgrove.

Division two results were Betty Marney in first, Gill Hadley second and Ginny Farnworth Smith in third.

The men held their October medal with division one results being: Paul Spackman gross 69 net 66, (lowest gross), James Ward 69–66, Peter Bowyer 73–67.

In Division two: Mike Osguthorpe 95 gross 67 net, Kevin Oxley 87 – 70 and D Matthews 86 – 70 (lowest gross).

In the midweek stableford, R Newby topped the pile with 35, followed by an eager gathering all scoring 33 points - Rob Clark, Peter Bowler, Chris Hopwood, T Stewart and J Milton.

The Stableford held on October 11, saw Neil Blackmore win division one with 40, Rob Tye 39 in second, followed by both Mark Farmer and S Manlow with 38.

In Division two, Neil Watson and Paul Hickinbottom, won after countback with 42, second was Phillip Troake and Greg Scribbins both 39 and then Richard Godfrey and M Amos both with 38.

The Seniors’ Order of Merit competition held on October 12 saw Colin Brown come first with 38 Stableford points, followed by Michael Bright and David Kinnear and A J Fuller 37 and Mike Sheppard and A C Brown both with 32.

Division two results were: Colin Shepherd 39, Colin Gould 34 and Terry Brown 33.

Results from the Stableford on October 14 were: Steve Wright 42, Terry Davies 37 and Christian Hopwood 36.

October 17 results were: Division one: Dave Hollow and D K Bennett both 39 after count back, S Rudd and R Sully both 38, then Chris Flack, G Sweet, Paul Hadley and J Dave with 37.

Division two: G Pitt 41, Richard Taylor 40 and M Amor and Colin Corlett both with 39.

Division three: Gary Jackson 41, Harvey Piper 40 and Steven Hope 38.
