WELL in excess of 80 golfers took part in the Prizegiving Stableford that was held at Taunton and Pickeridge Golf Club on Saturday.

In Division One there was a two-way tie at the top of the leader board, but after countback it was Jonathan Street who was first just ahead of Mike Elkington after both returned with 38 points. Tony Biggs was third with 34 points and Gary Wide claimed fourth spot on countback with 34.

Chris Mogg headed the second flight with 35 points, but countback had to be used to sort the next after which it was Steve Coomber who was second and Martyn Cole third with both scoring 33, and Matthew Gaskin was fourth with 32 on countback.

Roy Miller topped Division Three with 30 points, Damian Nash was second on 26, but only after countback edged him in front of Arthur Sinclair after both scored 26.

Tuesday’s weather and the course conditions meant that the Ladies Scotch Foursomes was reduced from 18 to 12 holes at the end of which it was Lyn Gridley and Terina Parker with 24 points who took the honours ahead of second placed Georgia Calvert and Caroline Cooper with 22.

One two was recorded during the round and that was by Carolyn Stait and Mary Perrett.

Congratulations to T&P’s Chris Collins who has been awarded the Somerset Ladies' County Golf Association Grass Roots Cup/Adams Trophy for handicaps 30-36 in 2015.

The trophy is presented to the player who returns the best gross medal score in a medal competition played in July or August.

Chris began the 2015 golfing season in April with a handicap of 36 and, in the space of six months, has reduced this to 26, which is a fantastic achievement.

Last year Liz Stevens won the trophy so T&P Ladies are hoping for a hat-trick of wins in 2016.

There is certainly a wealth of young talented golfers coming through the system at T&P and on Saturday night a number of them were present at the Annual Prizegiving Evening that took place in the Clubhouse.

Bailey Langford who is 13-years-old and plays off a handicap of 14 won the Junior Short Game Challenge, the George Small Cup, the Presidents Cup, the Kaygwyan Trophy as we as the Order of Merit.

Charlie Hooper who is also 13 and plays off 19 was runner up on four occasions and third in the other, to Bailey. He also won twice this year and was placed on 12 occasions.
