SCHOOL children from across Taunton Deane enjoyed learning new skills at a winter cricket festival run by Richard Huish College Sport Degree students.
Pupils from Wiveliscombe Primary School, Cotford St Luke and Lydeard St Lawrence, took part in the winter cricket festival at Taunton Vale Sports Club.
The session was run by Foundation Degree Sports Development and Coaching students from Richard Huish College, Taunton, as part of their studies.
The aim of the festival was to provide the children with the opportunity to play cricket outside of the regular season.
Pupils had a taster coaching session on each discipline of cricket delivered by three Huish students who are qualified cricket coaches, followed by competitions.
The winning school was Wiveliscombe Primary School, who received a trophy as well as individual prizes.
All the schools received a signed Somerset County Cricket Club shirt.
Sport Degree student Dylan Lowman said: “It was a fantastic event with students and children alike thoroughly enjoying it.
“Special thanks must be given to Taunton Vale and Simon Manley for allowing us to use the facility.
“It was brilliant for us to gain the experience we need for our studies through working with three excellent primary schools.”
