QUEEN'S College U18 boys were crowned west indoor hockey champions for the first time in the school's history.
They triumphed with a clean sweep of five victories, beating Dean Close 2-1 in a thrilling final at Wellington School on Sunday, December 4.
After a walkover against Marlborough, Queen's eased to comfortable victories over Exeter (6-0) and King Edward's, Bath, (4-0) to win their pool.
They made hard work of their semi-final before two superb individual goals saw them win 2-0.
The final was a tense affair in which Queen's dealt well with the attacking threat posed by Dean Close.
Queen's scored two goals just before half time which settled their nerves and the team then defended well to run out worthy winners of the tournament.
They now move on to the national finals in January at Whitgift School, Croydon.
- Queen’s U18 girls were also in the West Indoor Finals – this time at Cheltenham – on Sunday, and were pipped for a place in the semi-finals.
