TAUNTON Racecourse kick off the New Year in style on Wednesday, January 11 with a six-race card that contains two Class Three events and prize money of £42,500.

The day gets going at 1.05pm, with the Broadway and Horton Cricket Club Maiden Hurdle race over three miles, the longest of the day.

This is followed half an hour later by the C&D SouthWest ‘National Hunt’ Novices’ hurdle race over two miles and three furlongs.

The most valuable race on the card is the Bathwick Tyres Handicap Steeple Chase (Class 3) over two miles seven furlongs at 2.05pm, which has a total prize fund of £13k.

This is followed by the second Class 3 event, the Bathwick Tyres Handicap Hurdle over two miles and three furlongs, which goes to post at 2.35pm, with £10k up for grabs

The Geoffrey Bosley ‘Tally Ho’ Open Hunter’s Steeple Chase, also over two miles and seven furlongs, at 3.05pm is likely to attract a large interest from the local point to point fraternity.

The action concludes with the ROA/Racing Post Owners Jackpot Handicap Hurdle race over two miles and half a furlong at 3.40pm.
